If you’re a lettings agent in Manchester right now, the chances are you’re looking hopefully towards the development of Media city to boost the dying housing industry in this part of the world. There’s a lot going on in that part of the world, but even away from the major developments at Media City, there’s plenty to talk about in East Manchester with the continued development in Sports City. Things are certainly looking up.
Despite the huge development going on at Sport City, the hottest property to invest in right now is around the Salford area. With up to 50% of the BBC’s staff set to move on up there in 2012 investors are wise enough to know that with them, those BBC staffers will bring hundreds of smaller companies looking to ride the wave of a cheaper city and less costs.
The area of Salford is already being glorified and glamorised in preparation for the move. All of a sudden, it’s not ‘get the London look’ it’s ‘get the Salford look’, invented in the 90’s by the famous Manchester poet Morrisey. It’s not just fashion that’s preparing, Urban Splash have known about the move for years and their Chimney Pot Park development is starting to turn heads, their innovative ‘upside down’ approach saves space and crams plenty of bang for your buck into the relatively small area.
As the housing market (we hope) begins to level out, investors will be falling all over themselves to get their hands on a piece of real estate in this developing area, just in time for a housing market recovery to take a hold and offer some real returns on investment. So what’s the point here? If you’re want a house in Manchester, Salford is the place to get one. Take our word for it.
I recently came back from a weeks holiday in Dorset. We had resolved that rather than going to the beach of the Spanish coast, I would keep our money, take a risk on the British atmospheric conditions and go to the pleasurable sands of Bournemouth and Poole. It seems as if I was not the only one as Bournemouth beach was crammed and with everything the area has to provide, it is no surprise.
Poole and Bournemouth are really interesting bits of Dorset to go to but the county has so much more to offer up. There were a broad variety of attractions and places to see. My pick of the assorted tourist sights would have to be Monkey World, The Tank Museum and Bournemouth beach. I had such a good time at all these sights and will highly commend them to people I meet.
This was one of the reasons I decided that my kin and I would stay in a Dorset holiday cottage rather than a hotel. This meant that we were fortunate enough to be able to stay in a house where we found we were comfortable and independent to do what we want. The place was also a fantastic base from which we could move to the localised tourist sights easy. We were blessed enough that our holiday cottage was situated less then 30mins away from most of these areas.
The Dorset cottage we stayed in was adjacent to a country public house which we frequently attended, where we created a friendly relationship with the pub landlord. We found out from the public house’s landlord that holiday cottages in Dorset were really common in the county and that he frequently met holidaymakers like us that stay in them. If you are considering of going on Dorset holiday then I would recommend living in a Dorset holiday cottage. The welcome you will find from the individuals is wonderful, it is lots cost effective than a vacation abroad and you will go home feeling laid-back and reinvigorated.
Blackpool is a seaside town residing on the North West coast of England, which is immensely popular with visitors from the nearby towns which include Warrington, Liverpool, Warrington and more. Blackpool is also fantastically popular with folk from all over Scotland who often arrive in large numbers in a similar fashion to the hordes of factory workers of old on their company vacation. Occasionally it appears as though the town is awash with accommodation and entertainments and although there is an incredibly amount of Blackpool bed & breakfasts it is better to make early reservations to avoid disappointment. Accommodation varies from the cheerful and cheap to total luxury. Many are situated on the sea front and, if you prefer book something less
raucous
you will find a few further away.
Blackpool began to see its first visitors in the eighteenth century who had visited to indulge in the new fashion of sea bathing. When the railway arrived, from 1846, the resort saw more folk arriving to”take the cure” as sea bathing as it was referred to then. Today you can travel to Blackpool by railway, road or aeroplane arriving there much faster than the early Victorian mill workers who could travel for up to two days from as close by as Manchester.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach
The main attraction in the town of Blackpool, in Lancashire, England, which gets roughly seven million visitors every twelve months, is Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Blackpool’s Pleasure Beach is a funfair of extra large proportions with mind blowing big rides, just a few are the Pepsi Max Big One, Ice Blast, Grand National, Valhalla, Wild Mouse and Zipper Dipper, as well as many, many more sideshows, food booths, children’s rides, thrill rides, games and sidestalls. The most recently added thrill ride is Infusion, the first ever to have a coaster of suspended loops all of it being over water.
Please note: If you are visiting the Pleasure Beach as a group of folk it is possible to make considerable savings by buying a wristband for unlimited rides especially if you will be going on as many rides as you can handle as the cost of each ride soon begins to hurt.
Getting There And Accommodation
As mentioned earlier in this article, Blackpool is very easy to get to these days as you can get to the town by train, aeroplane or automobile. If arriving by you are railway you will, likely, arrive at the main station in Blackpool, Blackpool North situated on Talbot Road. Just a short distance further down the road is where you will find the main coach station, Blackpool National Express Coach Station. The other Blackpool train station, Blackpool South, is at Waterloo Road, South Promenade, nearer the Pleasure Beach. Blackpool International Airport is located about 2 miles south of the center of town and was previously called, Blackpool Squires Gate Airport, one of the oldest airports in the UK.
Bed and breakfast accommodation in Blackpool is often available at reasonable rates. Rooms are often cheaper off season but not so cheap at weekends. Blackpool hotels are at their most expensive during the Illuminations, which is really peak season in Blackpool.
A handy tip: Some hotels can be noisy and busy especially those found between North and Central Pier. If you require in a quieter location try booking somewhere past the North Pier.
Air travel is perpetually on the increase and an amazing number of us wish to fly with our cats or dogs. For a long time now families have elected to take their family pet on road trips and camping vacations while preferring to leave them at home when when going abroad or when traveling by air. As travel by air becomes cheaper the thought of taking our pet with us seems worth consideration. The following article examines Pets, Flights concentrating on flights in England, Scotland and Wales.
Pets, Flights and the Rules & Regulations
One of the imperative things to keep at the forefront of your mind in connection with air travel and your pet regulations and rules. In Great Britain there are a selection of laws which may apply, for example the “Safe Air Travel for Animals Act” (2000). Recently there has been an increase in security and where you once may have been allowed to carry small pets with you on a flight this may no longer be the case. It is, obviously, crucial that you check the situation with the airline before booking your flight. Most airlines now stipulate clearly that all pets and small animals must be carried in suitable containers in the cargo hold. This is obviously much safer than risking an animal becoming distressed and causing a nuisance.
Although any pets or other small animals are now carried in the cargo hold some kind airlines will permit passengers to watch the animal being transferred on and off the aircraft. However it is crucial that, when making a booking you discuss the matter with the airline.
Other Important Factors To Keep In Mind
1. The Pet Container
It is also most incredibly important that you choose a pet carrier of the correct type, size and weight for the animal that will be residing in it for the duration of the flight. There should always be sufficient extra room for the pet to be able to move about freelyall of the time. The longer the duration of the flight the greater the amount of extra space required.
2. Security And Safety Measures And Traveling With Pets
At all times your pet container should be easily identified by the airline staff to avoid loss, which is always possible with any air travel. All pet carriers should be marked clearly with both the destination and a return address and full contact details. Also it is advised strongly that you include the details of a further person in case of emergencies when you can’t be contacted. As well as having labels on the outer surfaces also think about also adding some to the interior. Furthermore go to some length to make certain that your pet has a close fitting collar with an identification tag or similar. The risk of loss is least during non-stop flights.
If it is affordable it also well worth thinking about having your creature fitted with an electronic tag which is injected beneath the skin by a vet. As soon as you know when and where you will be flying to book an appointment with your vet (or at least telephone) as he will be able to give important advice on what the requirements are when traveling to another area or country. Your pet may require inoculations and there may be other restrictions or precautions to keep in mind.
Planning in advance is always the wisest idea and the very fact that you are at the bottom of this article is a wise move. By ensuring you understand the pet air travel tips & hints outlined above and by looking for further advice online and from your vet, you can be sure that you pet flies safely and securely with the smallest amount of disturbance.
Currently more tourists are looking for new vacation spots which offer something different or, at least something other than the usual holiday on a sunny beach. In the present climate many groups of folk are, alarmingly finding that they have dramatically less cash for expenditure on a holiday and are, frustratingly, forced into cutting corners to save money. A way of meeting this requirement is to look for cheaper resorts. In the following article I introduce you to the UK city of Birmingham. With the dollar and euro so strong against the pound Sterling hotels in Birmingham are far less expensive than last year.
The city of Birmingham is situated in the English county known as the West Midlands and the city’s inhabitants are referred to as being “Brummies”. The Brummy accent is a strong northern English sounding dialect and it is difficult to understand fully what is being said a difficulty which is made worse if if you have not heard these accents before. Luckily the vast majority of Brummies are helpful, kind and polite and do their very best to explain so if you need to don’t hesitate to approach people about directions and help or assistance with Birmingham bed and breakfast.
The city of Birmingham has an excellent selection of things to do and places to visit which include some highly interesting museums and galleries, such as the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the new Thinktank, a museum you will find in the Eastside. The city of Birmingham also has an incredible number of square kilometers of parks, woodland and open spaces, Sutton Park being the largest with 970 hectares making it the largest urban nature reserve in the United Kingdom and the whole of Europe.
The city of Birmingham possesses a wide ranging and vibrant night scene with a large number restaurants, cafes, coffee houses, bars, wine bars and nightclubs. You will find most in one of the city’s squares, Victoria Square, Centenary Square, Rotunda Square, St Martin’s Square, Chamberlain Square, the historic Old Square at Corporation Street and the Gas Street Basin. Gas Street Basin is the hub of the city’s intricate canal network. Birmingham has roughly thirty two miles of canal with a total of eight canals which were created in the 18th century and remained in use until the 1970’s. Today the area has been cleaned up and is now a incredibly popular tourist attraction.
Alternatively why not consider booking apartments in Birmingham. If you If you are currently considering a Birmingham vacation you will need to know that Birmingham’s airport is approximately 8 miles away from the center of the city just off the A45. You will easily find a number of hotels and b & b’s not too far from the airport.
Under the current economic conditions many of us are in the process of seriously looking at the way they lead their lives and attempting to make savings. An easy choice for many is to have a vacation in the United Kingdom of Great Britain the reason being that the pound has lost ground against other currencies leading to the fact that foriegn vacations for the British are expensive than in previous decades and much less expensive for people coming from Europe and America. In the following article I introduce you to the seaside resort of Southport, in Merseyside, England.
Southport is a exquisite seaside resort found on the North West coast of England. Tourist attractions include, Churchtown village, the Botanic Gardens at Churchtown, Churchtown village, Southport Pier, Lord Street, Wayfarers’ Arcade, Hesketh Park and more. Lord Street is Southport’s main shopping area. All down one side of Lord Street the broad pavement are covered by superb Victorian iron work together with a line of deciduous trees closer to the road. Over on the opposite side of the street you will discover pools and fountains, flower beds and gardens and a Victorian bandstand. At the centre of Lord Street is more than likely the most grandiose war memorials in the U.K. with an obelisk at the centre and two further memorials on each side which feature large columns. Some of the finest of Southport’s architecture is to be found along Lord Street and it is where you will discover Wayfarers’ Arcade, a covered shopping area.
At the very end Lord Street you will discover the wonderful Hesketh Park. Hesketh Park gets its name from the Hesketh family the park is heavily wooded, just like Lord Street. Hesketh Park also has wonderful flower beds, hidden gardens, a play park, glass house and more but the lake is the most prominent feature.
You will find another wonderful park, the Botanic Gardens in Chruchtown which has a a long expanse of water set out to appear rather like a river featuring the usual ducks and swans plus a bridge and boating plus if animals and birds are your thing the Botanic Gardens also has a tiny zoo, just in front of the museum and cafe. Churchtown village itself is a gorgeous number of ancient cottages, fishermen’s cottages and houses most of which are white and some of them feature a thatched roof. It is crucial that you take a walk around and that you keep your eyes peeled because there are a few hidden gems well worth the work to discover.
Finding bed & breakfast in Southport is pretty easy with a varied number of Southport hotels and guest houses available to book online. There are hotels suitable for all tastes and budgets from cheap and cheerful to luxurious in Southport’s town centre or just outside.
Sources close to the incoming president Barrack Obama have disclosed that he intends to play down Britain’s importance. It has been said that he considers the UK as just ‘one of the crowd’ of countries with which America has a special relationship.
The tight political, military and economic links, formed between Britain and America under George W.Bush, are set to be weakened as Barrack Obama endeavours to establish and develop closer relations with a wider range of countries. Britain needs to be prepared for change as the new president establishes relations with world leaders previously shunned by president bush.
It is expected that president Obama’s first overseas visit is likely to be to a Muslim country as he embarks upon bridge-building with countries in Asia and the Middle east. In Europe he is expected to focus upon building stronger ties with France and Germany.
The UK prime minister, Gordon Brown, has said that the Barrack Obama presidency is expected to further strengthen the special relationship that has been built between the UK and the US. He has said the Obama “shares the values of liberty, democracy and fairness” and that “the special relationship will be one so strong, no power on earth can ever drive us apart.”
Although the UK is keen for Obama to pay a visit it is looking like he will not make it until the April G20 economic summit. It is expected that his secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, will visit the UK before that time when she embarks on an international tour aimed at re-building relationships with nations previously damaged by the Bush administration.
One major issue has been the widely criticised Guantanamo Bay detention camp. Obama is expected to address this issue and close the facility.
While there is some pessimism regarding the future of the special relationship between the UK and the US many are optimistic. President Obama is reported to be far more open to hearing conflicting views than George W.Bush ever was and many people, either side of the Atlantic, hope that this will set the stage for open and frank debate.
For parking at London City Airport it is recommended that you compare airport parking charges and book online with Gosimply.com.

We’re just back from a visit to the UK, our second trip to that area in the last few years and I decided to write about some of the brilliant uk hotels that we stayed in during our travels. There is so much to see and do in the wonderful cities of the British Isles, each of them offers tradition and history going back centuries. Add to that the fact that they converse in a language similar to our own and that a museum or art gallery can be visited whatever the weather and you have found a ingredients of a truly awesome trip. We’re certain that you will enjoy visiting the UK, but would always suggest that U.S. citizens check with the U.S. Department of State Advice to Travelers website before undertaking travel outside the country.
Edinburgh, Scotland
You can be confident of a friendly welcome in the historic city of Edinburgh. This friendly east coast city is made up of the Old Town including the Royal Mile and the New Town, with the two halves separated by the line of Princes Street. Edinburgh University dates back to 1582 and its colleges, museums and galleries are spread throughout the entire city. The university has a number of exhibits open to the visitor, check their web site for opening and closing times.
During the Summer Edinburgh welcomes thousands of tourists to its festivals. The Edinburgh International Festival lasts for four weeks and showcases music, theatre, opera and dance. Running at the same time is the famous “Fringe”, which typically offers over 25,000 performances in over 250 different venues all over the city. With over 1,800 widely varying shows to choose from (in 2006 36% of them were World Premieres) including theatre, comedy, ballet, shows for the children and many musical concerts there is something for everybody. There is in addition, the Blues and Jazz Festival, The Literary Festival and The International Film Festival that take place throughout the summer season.
Because we were only in Edinburgh for a couple of days we were determined to push the boat out and stay in one of the most famous hotels in Scotland, The Edinburgh Scotsman Hotel. This amazing old hotel can be found right in the center of many of the city’s finest buildings and venues such as Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood House, The Royal Mile and the National Gallery of Scotland are all within walking distance. As I said earlier the decision had been made to spoil ourselves by staying at this astonishing hotel and everything that we had hoped for became reality.
Birmingham, England
One of the attractions of our recent visit to Britain was a planned visit to the Crufts Dog Show which is held in the NEC Arena in Birmingham. Taking place over 4 days, it’s the most famous dog show in the world. Last Year 143,000 enthusiasts witnessed competition between over 25,000 dogs from 26 countries taking part. Another great crowd-puller at the show is the Discover Dogs section where the owners of 190 different breeds are there with their dog, willing to answer questions from prospective new owners. Since we were only going to the dog show, rather than exploring the city of Birmingham we decided to stay at one of the closest hotels to the NEC. On this occasion we weren’t searching for one of the world’s top hotels, more a place to lay our heads after a hard day walking around that vast complex admiring dogs of all shapes and sizes. We settled on The NEC Crowne Plaza Hotel which is situated within the grounds of the UK’s largest convention center. The hotel was exactly what you’d expect, bright, clean and totally impersonal. There certainly wasn’t anything to complain about and we’d readily stay there again for any concerts or exhibitions at the NEC.
London, England
Our final destination on this trip was London. If you’ve never seen London you really do need to appreciate the immense size of the city. It has grown and grown out in all directions over the years and it’s essential that you make up your mind precisely what you want to visit during your trip else you will spend all of your time sitting on buses and the London underground and let me tell you, that is not something that you should should get excited about. Our agenda for this final few days of our trip involved us taking part in some serious retail therapy i.e. shopping. To that end we resolved to stay in London’s Knightsbridge district with its huge numbers of chic, world renowned stores such as Harrods. We booked into the Sheraton Park Tower in ultra-stylish Knightsbridge. The Sheraton Park Tower is one of the capital’s most stylish hotels, known for its “One-O-One” restaurant, London’s best fish restaurant. The hotel offers tremendous views over the London skyline with many rooms overlooking Hyde Park Local attractions apart from the excellent shops include Hyde Park and a number of London’s world renowned museums and landmarks.
